ACCESS TO MODERN ENERGY SERVICES AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA: HAS GOVERNMENT POLICIES PAID OFF?

In this paper we investigate the relationship between access to modern energy services and human development in India over a decade. We estimate an index of development, multidimensional poverty index, confidence index. Empirical result shows that is quite widespread most states spite progress made reducing same during study period. States with higher level are having lower implying strong negative correlation development. Further, strength has strengthened Among components highest impact on GSDP percapita followed by education life expectancy The also finds positive whereas poverty.
